About
Patrick completed his BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics at the University of Salford, UK in 1987 and won the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Building Magazine prizes. While working full-time in the UK for Building Design Partnership in Manchester and later for Gardiner & Theobald in London, he completed an MSc degree by research in the area of Value Management from the University of Salford. After obtaining his MSc qualification, he worked for a small practice in the UK as Director of Building Cost Information and Research. He left the UK and returned to Hong Kong in 1992 and worked for a large property developer in an in-house project management team overseeing a major commercial and office development project in a prime location. He left the industry and joined academia in 1994 to work as an assistant professor at the PolyU. Patrick graduated from the Warwick Business School, UK with a PhD in Industrial and Business Studies.
Besides the construction-related professional qualifications cited above, Patrick is also a member of various management-oriented professional societies both locally and abroad. These include: Member of the Academy of Management (USA),Founding Member of the International Association for Chinese Management Research and Project Management Institute.
